This trail run through the Teme Valley and along the Worcestershire Way surrounding Martley is a stunner. Flat-ish with a few little lumps here and there this route is a trail running gem.  It has pretty villages, woodland, riverside paths, orchards and on a clear day views out towards Clifton Upon Teme and the Bromyard Downs.  Although this run in taking place in March (fingers crossed for blue skies) it might still be a little chilly, and likely to have some muddy sections.

We’ll begin our run from the Norman Church St Peter’s and head out across farmland and pastures towards Martley’s famous Apple Orchards. From here we cross the main road and work our way onto Rodge Hill, and the Worcestershire Way. If we’re lucky we might even spot some bird of prey circling over the valley. The end of the trail takes us to a woodland trail which runs just above the River Teme and then winds its way back uphill to our starting point in the village of Martley.

If the weather is wet expect mud and puddles, hence why trail shoes with good grip is essential for this run, but its all part of the trail running charm.

Once booked on please ensure you have completed a ‘Ready to Run’ form.

Booking for a friend? – Please ensure you book them separately so I have both your details including each individual email, rather than under one person’s name & email. This will mean you need to check out twice as I need all runners individual details including emergency contacts.

Important Information

Our women’s only trail runs are social runs, we hike the hills, run the flats and encourage everyone to stay together.

To help you get the maximum enjoyment from a RunTheShire trail run you should be able to comfortably run at least 4 miles/6.5km, be curious about adventure and not be afraid of getting a little bit muddy  – especially in the winter, after all, that’s part of the fun.

Sadly, due to insurance, we are unable to have dogs, buggys or under 18’s join us on our runs. Thank you for understanding.

Ready to Run form

To join a run please complete the ‘Ready to Run’ form when you book (you only have to do this once). The form also includes emergency contact details. If you arrive to a run without having completed this form I’m really sorry but you won’t be able to join us, even if you have already paid.

When you book your first run a ‘RunTheShire’ account will be automatically created using the email address you provide – this is where you can see all your bookings and make any changes to bookings, personal details or In Case of Emergency details.

Cancellations

If I have to cancel the run I will issue a refund. If you need to cancel you can do this by logging into your account and amending your booking for a refund. Please cancel your run no less than 72 hours in advance so your spot can be reallocated to the waiting list. If you cancel after this time, I’m really sorry, but you wont receive a refund.

The following kit list is strongly advised for this run

  • Warm running clothes, think layers for winter/early spring running
  • Buff/hat and gloves
  • A waterproof jacket – compulsory if rain is forecast
  • Trail shoes – these are compulsory for your own safety, road shoes will not be accepted on this run
  • You might want to bring a drink and a small snack if you think you’ll need it as we are likely to be out for 90mins – two hours depending on the group speed.

On this guided trail run around Martley you are highly likely to get muddy, so you might want a dry pair of socks and trainers waiting in the car for when we get back. Plus a warm jumper / coat to wear on the way home, even its warm you’ll be surprised how quickly you can cool down.
