Join a guided women’s only trail running group
If you’ve ever fancied exploring some of the beautiful trails that Worcestershire and the surrounding areas have to offer, then why not join RunTheShire on one of our women’s only trail running group.
Our women only trail running groups take place throughout the year, come rain or shine, we love nothing more than a skip through the countryside, a splash in the mud, a hike up a hill and a pause to admire the views.
So whether this is your first time or your 100th time, we’d love to have you join us on one of our guided trail runs.
What to expect on a women’s only guided trail run
Our women’s only trail runs range in distances from 4 to 8 miles and follow designated public footpaths and national trails. Coach Carly always recces the route before hand so we know roughly what to expect on the day.
We hike the hills and run the flats so that everyone can stay together, and no one is ever left behind. We stop for photo opportunities, especially if the weather and visibility is good.
At RunTheShire we are all about supporting and celebrating each other. We often have women who have never run trails before join along side more experienced trail runners, and both finish having made a new friend. For ‘speedier’ runners it’s their opportunity to relax and for ‘newbies’ it’s their chance to pick up some tips.
What should I wear on a trail run?
Trail running is very different to road running, and often you’ll find yourself further away from amenities such as shops or toilets. The weather also dictates the kind of kit you’ll need. On all our women’s only guided trail runs the run leader carries a first aid kit and spare water/snacks. We advise individual runners to wear/bring the following:
- Trail specific running shoes
- Good pair of running specific socks to avoid blisters
- Waterproof jacket if rain is forecast
- Hat, buff and gloves in the winter months – think layers
- Water and snack/gels
- Trail running vest (like the one shown here) or bum bag to carry the above
