Join RunTheShire’s weekly social runs
Join our friendly and fun, women only, social run right here in the city of Worcester on Monday evenings.
At a RunTheShire Social Run we keep it fun and stress free because we know our mental and physical capacity to exercise can fluctuate on a daily basis. This could be hormone related, stress from work, fatigue from looking after family (young and old), sleepless nights, hot sweats, anxiety, the pressure we put on ourselves to make sure everything is ‘just so’ the list goes on… So, it is for this reason that we don’t set a pace for our social runs, instead we focus on time on feet and at a pace that suits the group on the night. If anyone needs to walk, we take a little walking break, no one gets left behind and no one ever has to feel they are holding anyone back.
This is what I’m most proud of with RunTheShire, everyone genuinely supports each other to ensure each runner enjoys themselves.
Book onto a Social Run
What to expect on a women’s only social run
Expect lots of laughing, lots of chatter (mostly about what everyone’s having for dinner) and hopefully some new friends made.
Each run begins with warm up exercises followed by a five minute brisk walk, then we set off for a 30-40 minute run (depending on how everyone is feeling) around the city, with a different planned route each week. We end the run with a five minute walk and cool down stretches, that way you go home feeling de-stressed and ready to start your day or relax into your evening.
Qualified England Athletics Run Leader
As your run leader it is my job to keep you safe and to keep it fun. You’ll never have to worry about ‘holding anyone back’ because we’ve all been there. Sometimes you want to plod, and for the times you are feeling a bit bouncier you can go ahead and lead the pack. If you get a little too far ahead, you’ll just be asked to ‘muster’ back. That way you still get a good workout, but no one is left behind.
I am an experienced runner and started running to help combat some of the anxiety I felt after having my second child in 2017. I’ve been leading my women’s only groups since January 2022 and it is always a highlight of my week. I’ve taken part in several events over the years including Worcester’s city runs, London Marathon and several ultra marathons.
As an England Athletics qualified run leader and coach, I pre-plan and guide all the routes myself so you don’t have to – you just book on, turn up and run. I am also qualified in Outdoor First Aid and always carry some first aid essentials just in case.
