Learn to run with RunTheShire
Over 12 weeks you’ll learn to run for 30 consecutive minutes, where the focus is on time moving, rather than distance covered or pace. This gentler build up helps to avoid injury and is less intimidating compared to a shorter 10 week learn to run course, where there are bigger weekly jumps to get you to the end goal.
This learn to run course is designed by head coach Carly, an experienced runner and qualified run coach, and is suitable for beginners or those looking to return to running after a long break or injury. Postpartum or post operation runners can also benefit, as long as you are at least 4 months post having a baby/operation, and have cleared this with your midwife/GP.
There are two ways to learn to run with RunTheShire – as part of our in person learn to run groups, or through an online learn to run coached plan.
Learn to run with a qualified run coach
When you learn to run with RunTheShire you will have the support of our head coach Carly, an experienced learn to run coach. Carly is a fully qualified and licensed England Athletics Run and Fitness Coach, CIMSPA certified in Movement in Menopause and The Well HQ Female Body, a Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer and trained in outdoor first aid.
Women only learn to run group – Next group starting January 2025 – NOW SOLD OUT
With an emphasis on fun and community you’ll learn how to confidently run for 30 consecutive minutes over the course of 12 weeks. There will be one guided run a week with your group here in Worcester city centre, and one ‘homework’ run a week to complete in your own time.
Groups are women only and are deliberately small of no more than 12 people. This helps me to get to know you as an individual athlete ensuring you get the best out of the course.
Joining an in person course is a great way to meet other women who are learning to run too, that way you know you’ll always have a run buddy. Lots of our past graduates still run together.
There is also the added benefit of a group WhatsApp where I send your homework runs and where we keep each other motivated and celebrate completed homework runs. Don’t worry – it’s not ‘spammy’, and won’t constantly ping all day and night.
